What is Tico S? Properties, Benefits and Installation
What is Tico S?
Tico S is a high-performance anti-vibration material designed to reduce vibration and noise in machinery and equipment for a range of industries. Manufactured from carefully selected cork particles, blended with neoprene and nitrile elastomers, the material is highly effective in absorbing shock and is designed to be durable, resistant to wear and tear and able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments, remaining stable in many atmospheric conditions and suitable for outdoor use.
The unique properties of Tico S anti-vibration allow it to effectively dissipate and absorb vibrations, preventing them from transferring to other parts of machinery or equipment. This reduction in vibration helps to limit the amount of noise created within the workplace, whilst improving the overall lifespan of equipment. Tico S is manufactured to withstand very high dynamic and static loads without degrading, provided the maximum static load capabilities are not exceeded.
Tico S can be used for a wide range of applications including manufacturing machinery with a high centre of gravity (lathes, pillar drills and saws), machinery with a vertical shock load (power press, slotting machine and guillotines), pumps, compressors, HVAC equipment, lifts, conveyors, refrigerator plants, and even to reduce washing machine within the household. Its versatility is one of the many reasons Tico S anti vibration enjoys a worldwide reputation, established over many decades of use.
Why use Tico S?
Machinery and equipment in industries such as heavy plant and machinery, construction, engineering, manufacturing and transportation often generate high levels of vibration and noise during operation. These factors can negatively impact efficiency, accuracy, and lifespan of equipment, as well as the comfort and safety of operators and employees. In addition, excessive vibration and noise can cause damage to surrounding structures and equipment, resulting in costly repairs and downtime.
Utilising Tico S anti vibration can help to improve efficiency and longevity of machinery and equipment. By reducing vibration and noise, the product can prevent premature wear and tear, reduce maintenance, and repair costs, and improve the overall accuracy and precision of machinery. Additionally, it can provide a safer and more comfortable working environment for operators and employees.
Benefits of Tico S
Tico S Anti Vibration is an effective solution for reducing vibration and noise in machinery and equipment. But what are the benefits of using the material?
Improved equipment lifespan
One of the key benefits of using Tico S is that it can help to improve the lifespan of machinery and equipment. Through the reduction of vibration and shock the equipment is subject to, Tico S can help prevent damages, prolonging the life of equipment and reducing the need for costly repairs or replacements.
Enhanced performance and efficiency of machinery
In addition to improving the lifespan of machinery and equipment, Tico S Anti Vibration can also enhance their performance and efficiency. By reducing vibration and noise, the product can improve the accuracy and precision of machines, leading to higher quality output and greater productivity.
Reduced maintenance and repair costs
By preventing premature wear and tear and improving the efficiency of machinery, Tico S Anti Vibration can help reduce maintenance and repair costs. With less wear and tear on the equipment, there is less need for frequent repairs or replacements of parts. This can result in significant cost savings over time.
Improved working conditions for operators and employees
Excessive vibration and noise can be detrimental to the health and safety of operators and employees. By reducing these factors, Tico S Anti Vibration can create a safer and more comfortable working environment. This can lead to increased job satisfaction, better employee retention, and improved overall productivity.
What is Tico S used for?
Now you understand why to use Tico S and the benefits of the product, let’s take a closer look at the industries that rely on the anti vibration material. The versatility of Tico S means its used across a wide range of professional industries for many different applications, here are some of the most common:
Heavy Plant & Machinery
In an industry that can generate significant levels of vibration and noise, not only causing damages to machinery but also creating hazardous working conditions, utilisation of Tico S is critical. The high-performance material is often mounted to the underside of heavy machinery to allow the dissipation of vibration, creating a safer and more comfortable working environment for employees.
Construction & Engineering
Construction and Engineering equipment such as pumps, compressors and HVAC appliances require precise alignment in order to function effectively. Consistent vibration can affect said alignment, reducing the efficiency and lifespan of equipment. Mounting Tico S helps to reduce these issues, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of construction and engineering applications.
Manufacturing
Manufacturing machinery with a high centre of gravity such as lathes, pillar drills and saws or machinery with a vertical shock load including power presses, slotting machines and guillotines all produce high levels of vibration and noise, potentially leading to equipment damage and reduced efficacy. Tico S is designed to reduce vibration levels, prolonging the life of machinery and helping to reduce overall costs.
Transportation
Tico S is frequently used within the transportation industry for trains, buses and trucks that emit high levels of noise caused by excessive vibrations during movement. By utilising the Tico S to help limit vibrations and noise, passengers will experience a more comfortable ride and experience from the service.
Domestic Applications
Although Tico S is manufactured predominantly for usage within professional industry environments, the material is also useful within the domestic household. Washing machine vibration is a common occurrence in many households, not only producing high level of noise but causing damage to the appliance overtime. By placing a small piece of Tico S anti vibration material to the underside of the washing machine you will benefit from dramatically reduced vibrations and sounds.
How to Install Tico S
One of the stand-out features of Tico S anti vibration is the very simple and efficient installation process. The material can be mounted to machinery or equipment as a full sheet, cut strip, pad or bespoke washers and gaskets, depending on the specific application. Before installation, it’s important to ensure the surface of the equipment is clean and free from dust or debris that could potentially interfere with adhesion of the material.
We recommended our Alpha Thixofix Contact Adhesive for installation of Tico S, a non-drip permanent, high strength glue that allows for slight adjustment after application. When adhesive is used it negates the need for anchor bolts, therefore preventing floor damage and saving money both short and long term.
For best results, we suggest using an adhesive spreader and applying a layer of glue from side to side on one surface and top to bottom on the other, then place your prepped Tico S sheet in the area you wish to adhere to and apply force to remove pockets of air. Finally place a heavy object on the Tico S sheet and wait a minimum of 24 hours to allow the glue to dry properly.
If you are utilising Tico S for a machine that must be bolted to the floor, we highly recommend Tico s collars and washers to use instead of the standard washers and collars. This will avoid further vibration being transmitted through the connection points and maximise efficacy and results from your Tico S.
Where can you buy Tico S?
